Membership Pricing
WSFS Membership carries Hugo Award and site-selection voting rights. The Attending Supplement adds full 5-day convention access to that WSFS Membership.

All prices are in AUD and are inclusive of GST (Goods and Services Tax) where relevant. All transactions will be processed in AUD. Prices valid until 31st January 2027.
Adult Attending – Regular Membership
This is a general admission ticket for the duration of the convention for adults 25 and over on 27 July 2028. It consists of a bundle containing an Attending Supplement and a WSFS Membership.
The Attending Supplement confers the right to attend the convention in person and also to access our virtual program.
The WSFS Membership is your required membership in the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS), an unincorporated literary society. WSFS membership confers the right to vote in the Hugo Awards, participate in the Business Meeting and to vote in Site Selection (there is an additional fee that goes to the elected Worldcon) and, if purchased before January 31, 2028, nomination rights for the Hugo Awards.
We allow transferring the in-person attendance part of this membership to another person if you cannot attend; however, the WSFS Membership is non-transferable.
First Worldcon and First Nations Membership
We offer a special rate for adults (25+) who are attending their first Worldcon. We extend the same rate to adults (25+) who belong to a First Nations group and are recognised as such in their community. This is on the honour system, so please be courteous. Aussiecon 5 is deeply committed to encouraging First Nations participation in this Worldcon and offers multiple pathways to membership.
Best Mate! Membership
A Best Mate! Membership consists of a full Adult Attending – Regular membership, topped up by a generous donation which we intend to use primarily for assisting those who might otherwise not be able to attend the Worldcon for financial reasons. On top of your membership to Aussiecon5, you also get a whole pile of swag, and a special thanks in our con book.
Children and Teens
Please note the very special initial rate – children 7-12 can be registered for attendance FREE until our first rate rise! We encourage you to take advantage of this offer.
Teen memberships (13-17) require a WSFS membership with voting rights in the Hugo Awards and Site Selection. An optional Child WSFS membership may be purchased separately if desired.
Child and Kid in Tow (Infant) memberships must be purchased by an adult; all children must be registered no matter the age, to assist with our planning for childcare services. Children may choose to get a WSFS Membership if they wish to nominate or vote in the Hugo Awards, but it is optional.
All children 12 and under must have an adult with them at the convention. We recommend teens 13-17 attend with an adult.
What is a WSFS Only Membership?
This option grants you a WSFS Membership for the duration of the convention; it gives you the right to nominate and vote in the 2028 Hugo Awards, and to participate in the Business Meeting and in the Site Selection process for 2030. This does not grant in-person admission to the convention. This option is not transferable to anyone else.
I Voted in Site Selection, or I Presupported, or I did Both, What Now?
If you voted in Site Selection and didn’t presupport, you automatically receive a 2028 WSFS Membership. If you wish to attend, you will need to buy an Attending Supplement. To do so, log into our registration portal on the link below using the email address you voted with in Site Selection.
If you did not vote in Site Selection, but presupported with a Great Mate!, Mate!, Young Mate or Virtual Mate presupport, congratulations, you have the right to a free Attending or Virtual Supplement to Aussiecon5. However, you do need to buy a WSFS Membership to make use of it. To do so, log into our registration portal on the link below using the email address you purchased your presupport with, and you will be able to buy the bundle of the WSFS Membership, and the appropriate supplement. When you do this, you will also review and update your age, communication preferences, and interests.
Virtual membership is not yet available except to people who presupported us at the Virtual Mate level. Virtual supplements will go on sale closer to the date of Aussiecon5.
If you voted in Site Selection AND bought a presupport, congratulations, you’re almost there! However, you will still need to log into our registration portal using the email address you voted and presupported us with, and obtain the free bundle that includes your chosen supplement. When you do this, you will also review and update your age, communication preferences, and interests.
If you used different email addresses to vote in Site Selection and to obtain your presupport, please email us on registration@brisbane28.org with information on both the Site Selection and the presupport, so we can match them up correctly.

Community Fund
We are aware that attending a Worldcon can be a challenge in more ways than one. We will be creating a Community Fund and inviting donations to facilitate bringing more people into our community. The Aussiecon5 Community Fund will be a special fund to help defray the expenses of attending the convention for people who qualify. Please follow our newsletters for more information about eligibility and access over the coming months.
I Can’t Attend but I Want to Support
Virtual and day memberships will be released for general purchase at a later date. If you would like to support the convention, we encourage you to help! Volunteers can register interest on volunteers@brisbane28.org . Our donations option is available on our registration portal. You can also purchase a WSFS membership with the rights noted above as it does not include in-person attendance.
Other
All memberships are non-refundable. All members must agree to the Code of Conduct.
